The social taxi program for school students with disabilities has been introduced in 11 new cities. This was reported by Upl.uz.
In the spring of 2025, the pilot project was launched in Tashkent, Samarkand, and Andijan. It now also covers Bukhara, Qarshi, Fergana, Urgench, Kokand, Jizzakh, Namangan, Navoi, Nukus, Gulistan, and Khiva.
This project is being implemented in cooperation with the National Social Protection Agency of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan and Yandex Uzbekistan. Within the framework of the project, school students with disabilities can use taxis to travel to and from their educational institutions.
The state ensures the reimbursement of transportation costs for each child monthly. This amount equals 1.2 base calculation units, approximately 494,400 soums.
The compensation can cover from 60 percent up to 100 percent of the trip cost, depending on the benefit conditions. According to the agency, this initiative aims to ensure safe and convenient travel to school for students with disabilities and to provide additional support to their families.
Currently, social taxi services are available in 14 cities across the country. Trips can be ordered through the Yandex Go app.
Special options are also offered for support, such as "I will be in a wheelchair" or "Help me find a car." The driver is notified about this and is ready to assist.
Yandex Go does not earn income from these orders; all funds covered by the state are directly given to the drivers. No commission is charged for the service.
In recent years, active work has been carried out in Uzbekistan to support citizens with disabilities. They are provided with social assistance, pensions, subsidies, and extensive medical and employment support by the state.
For reference, there are 1,031,609 citizens with disabilities living in the country. Yandex is one of the major organizations actively participating in social projects.
It facilitates life by providing citizens with convenient navigation and taxi services.
