Preferential parking system for multi-apartment buildings to be introduced in Tashkent
The Tashkent city administration has announced the creation of a special preferential system for residents of multi-apartment buildings. This was reported by Upl.uz.

This system is especially designed for houses located near paid roadside parking lots. It is expected that a mechanism for issuing special electronic residency permits will be launched by November of this year.

These permits will allow citizens to park their cars near their homes under special conditions. The Tashkent administration is working on the new system to balance the interests of city residents amid the expansion of the paid parking network.

Residency permits will be introduced for car owners living in mahallas, granting them the right to use residential parking lots on a preferential basis during the night – from evening until morning. Additionally, permit holders may receive discounts on parking fees during the day.

On weekends and holidays, even broader benefits are planned to be offered to residents, although details have not yet been disclosed. Technical work is underway to integrate the project into the unified interactive public services portal for digital implementation.

This process will be completed in November, and the city mayor will issue the relevant decision. This regulatory document will define the main aspects of the new system, including the procedure for issuing electronic permits, their validity period, and the precise list of eligible persons.

Furthermore, the document will provide a detailed list of the benefits offered. The city administration will ensure that the final decision is announced to the general public.

This initiative is a logical step against the backdrop of active development of parking infrastructure in the capital. The paid roadside parking project officially started on May 8, initially covering six streets in the city center.

According to future plans, by the end of June, services will be provided on 30 more streets, and by the end of July, a total of 86 roads with 13,208 parking spaces will be covered. To create convenience for drivers, the “Poytaxt Parking” mobile application has been operational since June.

The app is available in Uzbek, Russian, and English, allowing users to select the parking duration in residential parking lots and make payments. Payment systems accepted include Paynet, Octobank, Click, Payme, and Uzum Bank services.

The world’s first residential parking permit system was introduced in the 1960s in some German cities to address the shortage of parking spaces in residential areas due to the increase in the number of cars.
