BYD company has introduced its new hybrid hatchback for the European market

China's BYD company has unveiled the BYD Dolphin G DM-i hatchback, its first model specifically developed for the European market. Zamin.uz reported on this.
This new compact car, with its unusual plug-in hybrid system, aims to compete seriously with both electric vehicles and traditional fuel-powered transport. According to reports, the new model is expected to go on sale in the UK and other European countries this autumn.
The new car has a length of 4160 millimeters, placing it alongside its technically close relative, the Dolphin Surf EV model. The BYD Dolphin G is expected to be a worthy competitor to popular models with long-standing experience in the market, such as the Renault Clio, Volkswagen Polo, and Toyota Yaris.
The main difference from its competitors is that this model features a full plug-in hybrid powertrain, which allows it to cover long distances using only electric power. Although the manufacturer has not yet fully disclosed all the details of the new system, it is assumed to be similar to the technology used in the Atto 2 DM-i crossover.
The system includes a 1.5-liter gasoline engine, which primarily serves as a generator for the electric motor that drives the front wheels. Company representatives noted that the car's total range exceeds 1000 kilometers with a single charge and a full fuel tank.
This makes it very convenient for long-distance trips. The BYD Dolphin G model is planned to be produced at the company's new plant established in Hungary.
The company's management considers Europe's small-car segment to be one of the most important markets. This model is expected to fundamentally change existing perceptions of compact cars.
According to BYD's strategy, the main goal is for European customers to perceive the brand not as a foreign, but as a local manufacturer in the future.
