Volkswagen establishes automobile production capacities in Tashkent

Germany's world-famous Volkswagen automotive group plans to establish large-scale production capacities in Tashkent as part of the program to develop Uzbekistan's automotive industry. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
The prestigious British publication Just Auto shared information about this important news. The initial stage of the project involves establishing a large-knot assembly process in the capital, with the goal of later moving production to the Angren Free Economic Zone and significantly increasing the level of localization.
This major project will be implemented in close cooperation with the state company UzAvtosanoat, which signed a strategic partnership agreement in June 2025. According to the foreign publication's analysis, Uzbekistan's automotive industry has demonstrated stable and rapid growth rates in recent years.
Currently, five large plants are operating successfully in our country, producing products in cooperation with world-famous brands such as Chevrolet, BYD, KIA, and Hyundai. This indicates that the country is becoming a regional center for automobile production.
The fact that more than 10,000 qualified specialists are working in the sector today, and over 300 local enterprises are supplying automobile manufacturers with necessary spare parts, shows how high the sector's potential is. At the same time, the head of state Shavkat Mirziyoyev has set specific tasks to further deepen the production localization process, expand scientific research, and develop the auto components market by the end of 2026.
The entry of a prestigious brand like Volkswagen means new jobs and modern technologies for the country's economy.
