Ukraine accused Baskov of state treason and issued a search warrant

The Security Service of Ukraine has added Russian performer Nikolay Baskov to the official wanted list. This was reported by Upl.uz.

This information has been published in the organization's registry, where his status is indicated as "a person hiding from pre-trial investigation authorities." According to the published documents, Baskov has been charged under Part 2 of Article 110 of the Ukrainian Criminal Code.

This article refers to crimes related to the repeated or premeditated violation of the state's territorial integrity and inviolability by a group. It is known that the process of announcing the wanted status began in March 2022, which is more than three years ago.

The main reason for the criminal case is indicated as Nikolay Baskov's multiple statements supporting military actions since February 2022. The artist's words have been assessed by Ukrainian law enforcement agencies as justifying the violation of state sovereignty and calling for changes to state borders.

It is worth noting that this is not the only sanction imposed on Baskov by Kyiv. In 2024, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky revoked the title of "People's Artist of Ukraine" awarded to Nikolay Baskov by his decree.

This honorary title was awarded to the artist in 2004, and he held this title for twenty years. The decision to revoke the title is related to the artist's current position regarding the ongoing conflict.

As of July 19, 2025, Nikolay Baskov continues his concert activities in Russian territory and has not commented on his status in the Ukrainian wanted list. The title of "People's Artist of Ukraine" is a direct successor to the title of "People's Artist of the Ukrainian SSR," established in 1922.

Many post-Soviet countries, including Russia and Uzbekistan, have retained such honorary titles in the arts as a system inherited from the Soviet Union.
