According to Christie’s auction house, on September 26, a sale dedicated to 20th and 21st-century art will be held in Hong Kong. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
At this event, one of Pablo Picasso’s famous works – the portrait of Dora Maar – will be put up for sale. This piece was painted in 1944, during the German occupation of Paris, and experts estimate its value between 11 and 14 million dollars.
The portrait was created at the end of a nine-year relationship between the artist and surrealist creator, as well as photographer, Dora Maar and Picasso. It was during this period that Picasso produced many world-renowned works such as "The Weeping Woman".
This sale presents a unique opportunity for art enthusiasts, and the value of works that hold a special place in art history will further increase.
