Discovery companies have filed a lawsuit against China's MiniMax artificial intelligence corporation. According to court documents, the Hollywood giants accuse MiniMax's Hailuo AI service of illegally using images of popular films and characters to advertise their products.
This was reported by the Pravilamag publication. Hailuo AI users have managed to create videos and images featuring characters such as Darth Vader from "Star Wars," the minions from "Despicable Me," and "Wonder Woman."
This service is widely promoted through advertisements and publications under the slogan "Hollywood in your pocket." So far, representatives of Hailuo AI have not responded to the lawsuit.
For this reason, the film companies are demanding a court order to stop the service from operating in violation of copyright. The companies' statement reads: "Responsible artificial intelligence innovations are important, and the lawsuit against MiniMax reaffirms our commitment to hold accountable those who violate copyright laws, regardless of where they are located." This case is one of the important steps aimed at strengthening legal order in the field of artificial intelligence and protecting copyright.
