Turkish celebrities in the show business were subjected to drug suspicion testing on October 8. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
In the morning, social media stars, actors, and artists who were summoned for questioning by the gendarmerie were released by the evening. This was reported by the local NTV channel.
The investigation was conducted by the Department of Fugitive, Narcotics, and Economic Crimes under the Istanbul Chief Prosecutor's Office. Several celebrities were investigated on suspicion of drug use.
Among those investigated were Dilan and Engin Polat, Irem Derici, Kubilay Aka, Kaan Yildirim, Hadise Achikgyoz, Berrak Tyuzyunatach, Demet Evgar, Duygu Ozashlan, Zeynep Merich Aral, Ozge Ozpirinchji, and Mert Yazidjioglu. Some have not yet been investigated due to being abroad.
No one was officially detained during the gendarmerie operation. Celebrities who were in Istanbul were brought to the provincial gendarmerie command, where their statements were taken.
They were then sent to the Forensic Medical Institution for blood tests. After the completion of blood and hair analyses, they were released in the evening accompanied by gendarmerie officers.
The celebrities expressed their reactions to the event. Hadise said on social media that "everything is behind now."
Singer Irem Derici held a press conference and promised to share the test results with the public. Her lawyer, Ayshegyul Mermer, emphasized that there are currently no official charges and that information will be provided to the public once the processes are clarified.
Ziynet Sali's lawyer stated that his client is abroad and has no connection to this case. Various tests are used to detect drugs.
The most commonly used methods are urine, blood, saliva, and hair analyses. Urine tests can detect drug intake within the last three days, while blood tests show the active substance level in the body.
Saliva testing is considered a convenient method under police supervision. Hair analysis detects long-term drug use, with traces remaining for up to six months.
Results are obtained within 15 minutes to 3 days depending on the testing method. This event has sparked widespread discussion on social media.
Many consider this a "cleansing operation among celebrities." Some believe in the artists' innocence, while others demand a broader investigation.
Meanwhile, no one has been officially charged yet, but the test results remain under the attention of Turkish media and the public.
