Netflix has closed Boss Fight Entertainment, the studio that developed the Squid Game: Unleashed mobile game based on the "Squid Game" series. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
The studio employees announced this on the LinkedIn social network. Netflix acquired Boss Fight studio in March 2022.
The company emphasized that the team's experience would greatly help in developing the game development direction. After the release of Squid Game: Unleashed, its success was recognized multiple times.
The game ranked first in the free-to-play category in 107 countries. Netflix CEO Greg Peters called this project an important example of the company's future development strategy in the revenue report.
Nevertheless, after three years, the studio's activity was halted. Netflix representatives did not disclose the reasons for this decision.
Boss Fight studio co-founder David Rippy and game development director David Lyman expressed gratitude to their colleagues for many years of work and pride in the projects created. This event shows that sometimes even successful projects in the gaming industry face changes due to company strategy and market conditions.
