On October 30, 2025, the fourth season of the series “The Witcher” was released on the Netflix platform. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
However, the new episodes received mixed reviews from viewers and critics. On the Rotten Tomatoes platform, critics rated the series at 53%, while the audience score was only 21%.
This was noted as one of the lowest ratings in the history of the series. The main criticism from viewers was not the replacement of actor Henry Cavill with Liam Hemsworth for the role of Geralt, but rather the series drifting away from the original spirit based on the books and games.
Many reviews pointed out that the series has now become an adaptation inspired by “The Witcher” work, but no longer close to the original story. Fans strongly criticized the weak screenplay.
In particular, the storyline related to the character Ciri was found to be “meaningless,” with unnecessary characters added and important heroes removed at times. The tone of the series also changed, and it was emphasized that it has now turned into a simple fantasy story aimed at teenagers.
Liam Hemsworth’s performance as Geralt received mixed reviews. While some acknowledged that he “acted” in the role and “adapted better than expected,” most consider him unsuitable for the original Geralt.
Complaints were made that the new Geralt is no longer as tough and experienced as before, but rather very “talkative.” Among viewers, the main reason for the low ratings is seen as the creators’ disrespect towards Andrzej Sapkowski’s works.
Their changes inconsistent with the original source were heavily criticized. For this reason, many called the fourth season “a parody of The Witcher” or “the end of the series.”
Some expressed the opinion that the series should have been closed after Henry Cavill left.
