In December 2023, the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and Chilean law enforcement agencies jointly returned valuable items stolen from Keanu Reeves' home in Los Angeles to the actor. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
These items were found a year later, in December 2024, in the eastern part of Santiago, Chile. During this time, a person suspected of being involved in the theft was also apprehended.
According to investigation data, the theft was committed by criminal organizations known as the "South American groups," which operate internationally and carry out assaults and robberies. These groups move between countries to commit crimes.
According to Los Angeles Police Chief Jim McDonnell, the successful return of the items sends a strong signal about the inevitability of pursuing such criminal groups. Akil Davis, head of the FBI's Los Angeles division, described this case as an excellent example of international cooperation.
He specifically highlighted the successful collaboration between the FBI, Chilean police, and Los Angeles police. Keanu Reeves expressed his gratitude through a handwritten letter.
The actor thanked the US and Chilean law enforcement officers for their dedication, professionalism, and effective international cooperation. It was reported that the actor was not at home at the time the theft occurred.
