Netflix has announced an animated film titled "Yigma" that presents the classic fairy tale of Cinderella in a completely new interpretation. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
The film offers an alternative story about Cinderella's stepsisters, Lillit and Margo. Usually seen as antagonists, these characters are portrayed as the main protagonists in the development of the story.
According to the plot, Lillit is falsely accused of ruining the royal ball through magic and accidentally turns her sister Margo into a frog. To fix this situation and protect the kingdom from danger, Lillit teams up with Cinderella and other magical heroes to try to solve the problems.
The film is directed by Jon Ripa and Elis Szu, who previously worked on the animated film "Raya and the Last Dragon." The production is led by the well-known actress and producer Amy Poehler.
This project has been in development since 2021 and is scheduled to be released to audiences in 2026. According to Netflix, the film will be rich in sisterhood, humor, and adventure.
Additionally, this project is the next step in continuing Netflix's successes in animation, generating high expectations following hit projects like "K-POP: Demon Hunters."
