Forbes magazine reported that the wealth of Canadian renowned director and producer James Cameron has exceeded 1 billion US dollars. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
This financial achievement is due to blockbuster films he directed such as "Titanic" and "Avatar". James Cameron has been active as a director since the 1980s.
The films he participated in have collectively earned 9 billion dollars in revenue. The share Cameron received from this income constitutes the main part of his personal wealth.
His most successful projects include the films "Avatar", "Titanic", "Terminator", and "Aliens". Interestingly, Cameron does not consider himself a billionaire.
In an interview with journalist Matthew Belloni, he stated: “I would have liked to be a billionaire, but to achieve such wealth, certain contracts need to be made, and I have not signed such deals.” The upcoming film "Avatar: The Way of Water" may further increase Cameron's wealth.
According to Forbes calculations, this film is expected to bring him at least 200 million dollars in revenue before taxes and fees. James Cameron's path into the film industry was not simple.
He initially worked as a truck driver, then later as an assistant at New World Pictures company, earning 175 dollars per week. Although his first work as a director was the film "Piranha II" (1981), this project was unsuccessful.
However, Cameron's real success began with the 1984 film "Terminator". Made with a budget of only 6.4 million dollars, this film earned 78 million dollars and the franchise has earned a total of 2 billion dollars.
Besides Cameron, there are other billionaire directors in the film world such as George Lucas, Steven Spielberg, and Peter Jackson. These individuals have gained not only large income but also worldwide fame through their films.
