Railway cargo transportation volume increased in Uzbekistan

The Statistics Agency of Uzbekistan has released new indicators on railway logistics, which is considered a key driver of the country's economy. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
As is known, the volume of freight transportation by rail allows for an accurate assessment of how developed production and trade relations are. Growth in this sector directly reflects the country's economic stability.
According to official data, in the first three months of 2026, mainline rail transport delivered a total of 28 million tons of cargo to their destinations. Compared to the same period last year, this figure shows an increase in freight volume of 4.3 percent.
This confirms the growing throughput capacity of the transport system and the rising activity of business entities. Analyzing the composition of cargo loaded onto railway wagons makes it possible to clearly see which sectors of the economy are operating at high speeds.
Among the most transported goods, various types of ores lead the list, with a volume of 3.9 million tons. Next came petroleum products at 3.4 million tons, followed by grain and flour products at 3.3 million tons.
Additionally, coal products, important for energy security, were transported in the amount of 2.7 million tons, while black metals reached 1.8 million tons. Construction and agricultural products also showed significant shares in rail freight.
Specifically, construction cargo amounted to 1.5 million tons, chemical and mineral fertilizers to 789 thousand tons, and cement products to 710.9 thousand tons. Furthermore, 631 thousand tons of timber cargo and 266.1 thousand tons of potato, vegetable, and fruit products were delivered to meet public needs.
The volume of other various types of cargo totaled 8.9 million tons. These figures indicate that the main focus of rail transport remains the movement of large volumes of raw materials for heavy industry.
Ores, petroleum products, and coal together constitute a significant share of the total cargo volume. At the same time, with the arrival of the spring season, there has been increased activity in transporting construction materials and food products necessary for daily consumption, indicating high demand in the domestic market.
This reflects the active development of infrastructure projects and the consumer market in the country.
