
Rustem Umerov from Uzbekistan has been appointed as the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine. This was reported by Upl.uz.

Initially, the Ukrainian leadership considered Rustem Umerov as a candidate for the ambassador position in the United States. However, according to available information, his candidacy was not approved by the American side.
This situation led to Umerov's appointment to an important position in the National Security and Defense Council, which indicates a high level of trust in him within the Ukrainian leadership. Rustem Umerov was born in 1982 in Samarkand, in a Crimean Tatar family.
After the collapse of the Soviet Union, his family moved to Crimea. Prior to his current appointment, Umerov had been serving as the head of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine since September 2023.
He has also worked as the chairman of the State Property Fund of Ukraine. This appointment marks an important milestone in Rustem Umerov's political career.
