A serious incident occurred in the Mirabad district, which attracted the attention of the public. This was reported by Upl.uz.
A child fell into an open sewer cover at the pedestrian crossing near the "Green Apple" store and the maternity hospital No. 11. Information about this began to spread rapidly on social media on the evening of July 23, Wednesday.
According to witnesses, the child's fall was accompanied by loud screams, drawing the attention of nearby residents. There is currently no accurate information about the victim's condition or whether they sustained serious injuries.
After the incident, the dangerous sewer cover was not properly closed; instead of a standard cover, several boards were placed on top. This is a temporary and unreliable measure, continuing to pose a danger to pedestrians.
This situation raises serious questions for the city utilities and the Mirabad district administration regarding the safety of the city's infrastructure. Local residents are expressing concern and demanding that responsible authorities install a complete and secure cover to prevent such incidents.
The open cover at the scene is located at a busy pedestrian crossing, where many people, including children heading to nearby institutions, pass by every day. Leaving such objects uncovered or not properly protected is a clear violation of safety regulations.
So far, law enforcement agencies have not provided an official comment on this incident. A response from the city administration is expected in the coming days.
Typically, a standard iron sewer cover weighs about 50 kilograms. This is done to prevent easy movement by vehicles or outsiders, as well as to avoid accidents.
Safety measures in the city's infrastructure must be strictly monitored.
