
The press service of the Department under the Prosecutor General's Office reported that illegal tobacco products circulation has been prevented. This was reported by Upl.uz.
Special operational measures were carried out in cooperation with the staff of the Pap district administration and law enforcement agencies. During the operation, a "Lacetti" brand vehicle was stopped and inspected at the permanent post of the State Customs Committee located at the "Kamchik" checkpoint.
It was found that the driver of the vehicle had previously been held criminally liable. This individual was suspected of being involved in the illegal tobacco products circulation.
As a result of the vehicle inspection, it was revealed that the driver was transporting 5,000 boxes of foreign-made cigarettes smuggled into Tashkent. All identified tobacco products were confiscated as evidence.
A criminal case was initiated regarding this incident based on the article of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan concerning the "Illegal circulation or production of ethanol, alcohol, and tobacco products."
