For posting provocative videos to attract attention, he was sentenced to three years and one month of imprisonment. He will serve his sentence in colonies.
The criminal case against the blogger, a resident of Tashkent region, was opened several months ago based on videos he recorded while in South Korea. It was found that these videos contained statements insulting Uzbek citizens.
According to the expert conclusion, the blogger attempted to incite interethnic enmity, demeaned national values, and used discriminatory language based on religious beliefs. After the videos attracted the attention of law enforcement agencies, V.
Yu. was put on the wanted list.
The blogger was detained immediately upon arrival from Abu Dhabi when he returned to Uzbekistan on March 25, 2024. During the investigation, he admitted his guilt and stated that he posted the offensive materials mainly to create "hype" and increase his followers, and he apologized to his compatriots.
The court panel found V. Yu. guilty under Article 156, Part 2 (incitement of national, racial, ethnic, or religious enmity) and Article 158, Part 3 (insulting the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
Information about the verdict was confirmed by the press service of the Supreme Court. The parties were warned about their right to file an appeal in accordance with the procedure established by law.
