Leadership has changed in Sharaf-Rashidov district. This was reported by Upl.uz.
Asilbek Ashurov has been appointed as the new district governor. He took this position after the previous leader was detained on suspicion of corruption.
Asilbek Ashurov previously served as the governor of Paxtakor district. He was unanimously approved at an extraordinary meeting of the district people's deputies council.
His candidacy was proposed by the governor of Jizzakh region. It is worth noting that Mahmud Kholbutayev, who led the district since October 2019, was detained in early July while receiving a bribe of 10 thousand dollars.
According to investigation data, he promised to allocate a land plot to a construction company for building a multi-storey building in exchange for 30 thousand dollars. The arrest operation was carried out in cooperation with employees under his management.
