The press service of the Bukhara regional customs department announced the prevention of illegal goods importation. This was reported by Upl.uz.
Employees of the “Alat” border customs post in Bukhara region, located on the border between Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan, conducted an additional inspection of a cargo vehicle entering the country’s territory. The cargo documents indicated automobile spare parts, construction materials, and raw materials for soap production.
However, during the inspection, it was revealed that the truck contained 4.4 tons of hookah tobacco of various flavors, as well as Pringles chips and Bounty, Mars, and Twix chocolate bars. The full inspection was justified by the fact that the cargo was inside a refrigerator requiring a special temperature regime.
The goods listed in the documents did not require such conditions. The total value of the identified and seized goods amounts to 7.5 billion soums.
Pre-investigation checks are being conducted regarding this case.
