
On the occasion of the 34th anniversary of Uzbekistan's independence, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a decree on the conditional or full early release of 523 prisoners. This was reported by Upl.uz.
The “Uzbekistan 24” TV channel reported on this. This decision is based on humanitarian principles and has given many citizens a second chance.
Among those released, 195 individuals were fully pardoned, 147 were conditionally released early from prison, the sentences of 87 prisoners were mitigated, and the prison terms of 94 people were shortened. Additionally, among those released were 8 foreign nationals, 45 women, 31 persons over 60 years old, and 220 young people under 30.
Notably, the list also included 15 individuals who participated in banned organizations. The Prosecutor's Office and relevant agencies took measures to deliver the released individuals to their places of residence and to deport foreign nationals to their home countries.
The released individuals will be placed under supervision and probation. They will receive one-time financial assistance, and if necessary, medical examinations and treatment will be organized.
Furthermore, assistance will be provided for employment, obtaining loans and subsidies, as well as for processing civil documents and pensions. These measures are aimed at ensuring their reintegration into society.
