According to the press service of the Tashkent City Internal Affairs Department, members of the criminal group have been arrested. This was reported by Upl.uz.
Law enforcement officers conducted rapid search operations. During these operations, five members of a criminal group distributing a malicious application for users of the "Android" operating system via the "Telegram" messenger were apprehended, and it was revealed that they stole personal data.
It is reported that using this application, the criminals obtained contact lists, SMS texts, and other data stored on mobile devices. During the investigation, it was found that the criminal group consists of a total of 11 members, some of whom are foreign nationals.
The group members stole a total of three billion soms from the bank plastic cards of 133 Uzbek citizens. Currently, preventive detention measures have been applied against the criminals.
The investigation is ongoing. Law enforcement officers are trying to identify other members of the group.
