On September 4, 2024, at approximately 12:02, the Emergency Situations Department of Bukhara region received a report via the short number “102” about an incident that occurred in the village of Bog‘idaxt. According to the report, during the process of connecting newly constructed multi-apartment buildings in the 7th microdistrict of Bukhara district to the central sewage system, five workers fell into a sewage well due to non-compliance with safety regulations.
It was found that five workers belonging to “Fayz Binokor Oltiarik” LLC and a “Kamaz” crane owned by “Urta Osiyo Qurilish” LLC were carrying out sewage system connection works for the new buildings. The workers removed the well cover at a depth of 8 meters without obtaining permission from the Bukhara region water supply company in order to make a hole in the well.
At the same time, they violated basic safety rules and fell into the well. Under the influence of a strong current, they were pulled into the sewage pipe.
As a result, the bodies of three people were found at the wastewater discharge node in the Zarmanok neighborhood of Bukhara region, and search operations for the remaining two individuals are ongoing. A criminal case has been initiated under Part 2 of the article “Violation of labor protection rules” of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan regarding this incident.
The guilty parties may face imprisonment for up to five years.
