The press service of the Department under the General Prosecutor's Office reported the detection of illegal sand mining. This was reported by Upl.uz.
During the initial investigation conducted by the Department staff under the General Prosecutor's Office for the Samarkand district, it was found that the limited liability company "J.Q." mined sand without permission from the "Ilonsoy-1" sand deposit. This activity was carried out outside the allocated area using special equipment.
As a result, a total of 11,200 square meters of sand was illegally extracted. According to the Department's report, sand is a non-renewable natural resource, and thus this company caused significant damage to the state and society.
The total damage amounts to 2.8 billion soums. A criminal case has been initiated under the articles of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan concerning "Abuse of authority by officials of state or non-state commercial organizations" and "Self-management" in connection with this incident.
