The press service of the Department under the Prosecutor General's Office prevented the smuggling of tobacco products. This was reported by Upl.uz.
In cooperation with the Rishton district department employees and the State Security Service border units, a large quantity of tobacco products being illegally brought in was exposed. During a special rapid operation, a person was detained for illegally bringing 8,500 packs of “ESSE Change” tobacco products into Uzbekistan from Kyrgyzstan.
The total value of this shipment amounts to 297.5 million soums. During the investigation, it was revealed that this person brought in the tobacco products on behalf of another citizen, who was also detained.
A criminal case was initiated under the article of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan on “Illegal circulation or production of ethanol spirit, alcohol, and tobacco products.” Currently, investigative actions are underway, and other individuals involved in organizing the smuggling are being identified.
All legal measures are being taken regarding this case.
