The price of illegal registration services for mobile phone IMEI codes is sharply increasing in Uzbekistan. This was reported by Upl.uz.
The public organization "Potrebitel.Uz," which protects consumer rights, reported this. In the market, particularly in the "Malika" shopping complex, the price of such services has risen from the usual 30-40 dollars to 100-150 dollars and even up to 250 dollars.
This sharp increase in prices is related to the introduction of new customs fees and the tightening of control over the declaration of mobile devices. This is causing many citizens to face difficulties in legalizing their phones.
The rise in the price of illegal services is explained not only by the new customs payments but also by the increase in the number of citizens violating the new legal requirements for device declaration. Currently, the initiative to register IMEI codes is not yielding the expected results; instead of reducing the black market for phones, it is stimulating the development of new types of illegal services.
Thus, the new laws are leading to an increase in criminal activity instead of improving the situation and enhancing transparency.
