
Sevimli TV channel has been held administratively liable and fined for violating copyright. This was reported by Upl.uz.
This situation is related to the channel's illegal use of musical works in its programs and streaming platforms without the author's permission. The Intellectual Property Agency's press service provided information about this incident.
During an inspection conducted by the Ministry of Justice, it was found that Sevimli TV used the musical works of author R. Khudoyberdiyev in several television programs without his consent and without a relevant contract.
Additionally, these works were uploaded without a license on popular platforms such as Splay and YouTube and presented to a wide audience. An administrative protocol was drawn up based on the identified violations under Article 177-1 of the Administrative Responsibility Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan (Violation of Copyright and Related Rights).
According to the decision of the Mirabad District Court, the channel was fined based on the first part of this article. According to Article 177-1, officials can be fined from 5 to 10 basic calculation amounts for such violations.
Moreover, illegal copies, objects of related rights, equipment used for their distribution and reproduction, and other means will be confiscated. The legislation grants the author the right to claim not only compensation for damages from the person who committed the violation but also compensation ranging from 20 to 1000 basic calculation amounts.
This case is considered an important part of protecting copyright.
