Deputies of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan presented a draft law to the Senate to strengthen responsibility for the illegal circulation of precious metals, stones, and currency values. This was reported by Upl.uz.
This document has been developed to improve regulation in the field and bring legislation up to modern requirements. The draft law includes changes to the criminal code and the administrative responsibility code.
From now on, illegal purchase or sale of precious metals and stones will entail not only administrative but also criminal liability. Additionally, concepts related to currency values, precious metals, and stones will be harmonized in legal documents.
The impact of the draft law does not apply to jewelry and household items, even if they are made of precious metals and stones. According to the deputies, the adoption of this draft law will help ensure uniform application of laws in the circulation of currency, precious metals, and stones and will serve to prevent violations.
