On Monday, July 7, a 69-year-old man filed a complaint with the Nevskiy district police department in St. Petersburg about being threatened for money. This was reported by Upl.uz.
This was reported on the website 78.ru, which is the main information channel of St. Petersburg. According to the citizen, on the evening of June 24, he used a taxi service.
During the ride, the route was unexpectedly changed without any explanation. Then, the pensioner felt unwell and lost consciousness.
When he regained consciousness on Bolshevik Avenue during the night, an unknown person wearing black gloves and a blue mask threatened him with physical violence and demanded one hundred thousand rubles. Under pressure, the man later agreed to give the money near the Vitebskiy railway station.
However, a few days later, he ignored a call from the extortionist. During the investigation, on July 8, police officers detained a 36-year-old citizen of Uzbekistan.
The arrested taxi driver denied all charges and emphasized that the passenger, under the influence of alcohol, had offered to exchange his five thousand rubles. The police continue to investigate all circumstances of the incident.
The pensioner was not harmed.
