Starting from the 2025/26 academic year, the requirements for the qualifications of foreign language teachers in Uzbekistan will be strengthened. This was reported by Upl.uz.
From now on, the presence of an international certificate confirming the language proficiency level will be mandatory for all teachers working in general education, secondary special, and vocational education institutions. The certificate level must be at least B2.
This important change was established in the government decision dated May 19, 2021. If teachers are unable to present the required certificate by September, their employment contracts may be terminated.
Thus, a new system is being introduced to improve the quality and effectiveness of foreign language teaching in the state education system. This aims to enhance the qualifications of teachers and ensure a level of knowledge that meets international standards.
