On the night of July 16, a group of individuals was reported to have stolen a payment terminal in Tashkent region. This was reported by Upl.uz.
The information was initially confirmed by sources from law enforcement agencies that were disseminated in the Millar news program. The incident occurred at approximately 02:46 local time.
A Captiva model car without state license plates stopped in front of a store in the region. Three unidentified individuals, with their faces covered by masks, got out of the vehicle.
The members of the criminal group acted quickly and together, detaching the payment terminal from its installed place at the store entrance. The device was taken to a separate location, loaded into the car by the thieves, and they left the scene in an unknown direction.
This process lasted several minutes. A criminal case has been initiated by the investigative authorities regarding the incident.
The suspects are charged under paragraph "v" of part 3 of Article 169 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan, which pertains to responsibility for large-scale theft. As of July 18, 2024, law enforcement agencies are actively conducting search and investigative actions.
The main focus is on analyzing the video surveillance camera recordings in the areas close to the crime scene, which will help determine the car's movements before and after the incident. Typically, the weight of a standard installed payment terminal ranges from 80 to 150 kilograms, making it difficult to transport without special equipment and requiring the involvement of several strong individuals.
