According to Alexander Tukmanov, former president of the Moscow "Torpedo" football club, the team's former head coach Oleg Kononov has been mentally strained due to the situation surrounding the club. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.
Kononov was forced to resign from his position at the beginning of the 2025/2026 season after poor results in the Liga Pari competition. The team earned only one point in the first four matches.
According to Tukmanov, despite the leniency of the last season, Kononov showed good results, but the complicated situation that arose this season negatively affected his mental state. At the end of the 2024/2025 season, "Torpedo" managed to secure direct promotion to the Russian Premier League.
However, later the Russian Football Union accused the club of attempting to bribe referees and disqualified it from the competition. Several club officials were arrested and are currently being held in a detention center.
This situation dealt a serious blow to the team's reputation and sparked significant discussions among football fans.
