Former midfielder Aleksey Strepetov evaluated the performance of Saint Petersburg's "Zenit" team in the current Russian championship season. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.
According to him, a number of players and the team as a whole were not ready for the start of the championship. Although five rounds have been played so far, no stable lineup has been formed in any position, and player rotation continues as in the previous year.
In the expert's opinion, for various reasons Douglas Santos, Marcus Wendel, Luis Enrique, and the team's new member Jerson Santos are not ready for the season. The team has earned only six points in the first five matches and is currently in ninth place in the Russian Premier League standings.
This situation reflects Zenit's weak performance at the beginning of the season and indicates the need for significant work to improve the team. Ensuring stability and strengthening the lineup throughout the season should be the team's main tasks.
