Former midfielder of the Russian national team and Moscow's Spartak club, Egor Titov, expressed his opinion on strengthening the restrictions on the number of foreign players. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.
According to him, foreign players must prove themselves worthy to play in the team. Titov stated that foreign players are necessary, but it is important that they earn their place through competition.
For this reason, he supports national players entering the field under fair competitive conditions. Earlier, it was reported that new rules might be introduced allowing five foreign players on the field and up to ten on the roster in the championship.
Currently, the "8+13" limit format is in effect for foreign players in Russian football. At present, the Russian Premier League leader, Lokomotiv club, relies more on local players.
This serves the development of national football. Thus, regulating the number of foreign players in the championship creates opportunities for national players and increases competition in sports.
