Former Lokomotiv club president Nikolay Naumov expressed dissatisfaction with the team's defensive play in an interview with the publication Euro-Football.Ru. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.
He stated that the team leaves the area open, resulting in opponents delivering shots, attackers fighting, and scoring goals. For example, he mentioned Nenakhov's performance.
Nenakhov plays as a right-back, but in the match against Rostov, he positioned himself ahead of the player passing the ball, giving him freedom. According to Naumov, it is unclear how coach Galaktionov is currently training the team, but previously defenders were taught not to allow passes into the penalty area.
Because there are strong attackers in the penalty area who know how to fight. Lokomotiv does not have such a player, so passes coming from the wing always cause problems for the team.
If the defense positioned itself higher and played more tightly with the wing attackers, such goals would not occur. Naumov emphasized his dissatisfaction with Lokomotiv's current play.
Although the team is among the leaders in the Russian championship, many victories have been hard-fought. Currently, Lokomotiv is in third place in the competition table with 14 points after six rounds.
On August 31, the team will play against Krylya Sovetov at home in the seventh round.
