Fedotov: The penalty awarded to Spartak was correctly given

According to former Russian Premier League referee Igor Fedotov, the penalty awarded in the final minutes of the match between Spartak and Sochi was correctly given according to the rules. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.

However, the main referee Ivan Abrosimov made a mistake by consulting the VAR system. According to the expert, the referee was well positioned and should have made the decision independently.

Abrosimov's position allowed him to make his own decision, so calling for assistance was considered incorrect. According to Fedotov, the penalty decision was correct.

The match ended with a 2-1 victory for the capital team. Ezequiel Barco scored both goals for the Moscow side from penalties.
