During the Soviet era, there were at least three competitors for each position, which intensified competition within the team. Now, such a level of competition does not exist.
In Vladimir Ponomaryov's opinion, this situation negatively affects the overall level of the national team. Additionally, it is worth noting that on September 4, the Russian national team will play a match against the Jordanian national team in Moscow.
