Denis Boyarintsev, former midfielder of the Russian national team and Moscow's Spartak club, shared his thoughts on what kind of players he would like to see in his former team. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.
According to him, having a large number of foreign players in the team does not lead to good results. Local homegrown players who give their all on the field and are loyal to the team should play at Spartak.
Boyarintsev stated that head coach Stankovich is trying to show attractive football, but the players are not fully utilizing their potential. Stankovich has been managing Spartak since 2024.
Under his leadership, the team finished fourth in the Russian Premier League in their first season. Only CSKA, Zenit, and Krasnodar were ahead of them.
Currently, Spartak is in sixth place in the league table with 11 points. According to information published on the official website of the Russian championship, the team’s roster includes 10 foreign players for the season.
According to Boyarintsev, this indicates the need for the team to pay more attention to local players.
