The Portugal national team displayed a statue dedicated to their former forward Diogo Jota at their base. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.
The statue consists of the player's number 21 jersey and his surname. Diogo Jota died in a car accident.
The incident occurred in Spain in July. Jota and his brother Andre Silva were traveling together when their car veered off the road and caught fire due to a tire blowout at high speed.
As a result, both died at the scene. The Liverpool club has permanently retired Jota's number.
Merseyside team's head coach Arne Slot admitted that during an English Premier League match, he once wanted to bring Jota onto the field from the bench and looked for him there as usual. This event was a great loss for the club and the players.
