The legionnaire limit in Russia will be tightened in 2028

Russian Sports Minister Mikhail Degtyaryov provided information about when the restrictions on foreign football players are planned to be tightened. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.

According to him, currently eight foreign players can play on the field, and thirteen can be on the roster. However, in the future, this number will gradually be reduced.

According to the minister, by 2028, it may be established that five foreign players can be on the field and ten on the roster. These changes are aimed at gradually reducing the number of foreign players.

In the current season, seven rounds have been played in the Russian championship. The current leader, the "Krasnodar" team, is in first place with 16 points.

They are followed by CSKA, "Baltika", "Lokomotiv", and "Zenit" teams. These restrictions are being implemented in accordance with the development strategy of Russian football.
