Sports commentator Dmitriy Guberniev expressed his opinion on strengthening the restriction on the number of foreign players in Russian football. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.
This initiative was proposed by Russian Sports Minister Mikhail Degtyaryov. According to him, there should be strong foreign players on the field, but at the same time, Russian players should not be overlooked.
The minister and the Russian Football Union are jointly considering the interests of the country. It was previously reported that the number of foreign players on the field may be limited to five, and up to ten in the team roster.
Currently, the rule allows for up to 8 foreign players on the field and 13 in the team roster in Russian football. These changes are being considered to develop national football and create opportunities for local players.
Additionally, the quality of foreign players will be improved, ensuring that strong players take the field. The interests of all parties are being taken into account in this regard, and improvements in the football system are expected in the future.
