The number of foreign players in the Russian Premier League is planned to be gradually reduced. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.
According to the well-known source Ivan Karpov's Telegram channel, next season teams will have 11 foreign players on their roster instead of 13. On the field, only 6 foreign players can play simultaneously, instead of the previous 8.
In the 2027/28 season, this norm will be in the 10+6 format, and starting from the 2028/29 season, the 10+5 format, considered ideal by the Minister of Sports Mikhail Degtyaryov, will be introduced. Meanwhile, after seven rounds of the Russian championship, the "Krasnodar" team is leading the table with 16 points.
This, in turn, reflects the team's current strong performance. The reduction in the number of foreign players is expected to have a positive impact on the development of football in the country.
These changes will also help develop local talents and strengthen competition among teams. Football fans and experts are closely following the new system.
