Demenko: Safonov could not secure a main position at PSG

Sports16:12, 04-09-2025

Former Russian national team player Maksim Demenko commented on the current situation of goalkeeper Matvey Safonov at PSG. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.

He stated that Safonov was waiting for his opportunity at PSG. After Donnarumma left, the club brought in another goalkeeper from France.

Matvey wanted to fight and asked for a chance. However, Demenko emphasized that it is an unpleasant situation that PSG does not see him in the main lineup.

Additionally, the expert did not rule out the possibility of political factors related to Safonov. The 26-year-old Russian footballer joined PSG in the summer of 2024, signing a five-year contract.

Last season, he played in 17 matches, keeping a clean sheet in seven of them. This season, he has not yet appeared on the field.

This situation is affecting the player's career and raises questions about his role in the team. How the relationship between the club and the player will develop in the future remains unknown.
