Alexander Prudnikov shared his views on the tightening of restrictions on the number of legionnaires for Russian Premier League clubs. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.
According to Russian Sports Minister Mikhail Degtyaryov, starting from the 2028/2029 season, clubs will not be able to register more than 10 legionnaires per season, and no more than 5 legionnaires can be on the field at the same time. The current system in effect is based on softer rules in the 13+8 format.
According to Prudnikov, these changes will create more opportunities for national players and help them showcase themselves. He emphasized that these rules will have a positive impact on the development of Uzbek football.
Currently, the Russian champion is the "Krasnodar" team, which, under the leadership of Murad Musayev, is leading the Premier League competition after seven rounds. The team's success is achieved by maintaining a balance between legionnaires and local players.
The new rules will serve to increase the competitiveness of players and contribute to the development of national football.
