Famous coach Yuri Syomin commented on the tightening of restrictions on the number of foreign players in the Russian Premier League. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.
According to the former Lokomotiv head coach, the constant changes in restrictions do not help the development of Russian football. Syomin emphasized the importance of young players finding their place in the team lineup.
He stated that without competition in football, there is no progress. According to Syomin, discussions related to restrictions have been held many times, but they do not have a positive impact on football.
As previously announced by Russian Sports Minister Mikhail Degtyaryov, starting from the 2028/2029 season, a new "10+5" limit for foreign players will be introduced in the Premier League. According to this plan, a team can have a maximum of 10 foreign players on the roster, and no more than 5 foreign players can be on the field at the same time.
These changes are aimed at developing local young players and strengthening the competitive environment. Nevertheless, experts warn that constant restrictions do not positively affect football development.
