This was announced by Putin's press secretary Dmitry Peskov. According to him, such a possibility cannot be ruled out.
In an interview with “RIA Novosti Sport,” Peskov commented on the likelihood of Putin attending the World Cup. The 2026 World Cup will be held in the summer across three countries – the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
Recently, former US President Donald Trump said he would invite Vladimir Putin to this tournament. Currently, the World Cup holder is the Argentina national team.
In the 2022 final match, Argentina and France drew 3-3, with the winner decided by a penalty shootout. Additionally, 16 national teams have already qualified for the 2026 World Cup.
