The footballer, who previously played for Italy's Fiorentina and Spain's Valencia clubs, published an emotional letter on social media reflecting on his career from a childhood perspective.

His letter includes the following words: “Dear Cristiano, I am writing to you from afar. Perhaps you do not know where I am writing from.

I am writing from the locker rooms of stadiums, where I have seen tears of happiness and anger. I am writing from hotel rooms, where you lived and often felt loneliness.

I have many things to tell you.” It is also known that Picchini played for Serbia's Crvena Zvezda club.
