Russia's Foreign Ministry criticized Safonov and Zabarny at the PSJ

The process of Ukrainization in the field of sports is spreading widely around the world, causing concern among many. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.

Maria Zakharova, the official representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, commented on the question regarding the Russian goalkeeper Matvey Safonov and the Ukrainian defender Ilya Zabarniy playing together on the field at the French club PSG. Zabarniy had previously stated that their relationship is limited only to the field and fulfilling their roles during the game.

Safonov, on the other hand, did not comment at all. As Zakharova emphasized, the process of Ukrainization in sports and on the international stage is very widespread and this situation hinders and disrupts the development of world sports.

This process causes significant damage to the culture of the entire world and slows down cooperation and mutual relations. The diplomat described such a process as artificial and forced.

She also mentioned that world leaders have begun to understand this. Earlier it became known that before his transfer, Zabarniy demanded that PSG sell Safonov.

This situation further highlights political and cultural problems in sports. Cooperation and mutual respect are important in sports, and such artificial divisions should not be allowed.
