Courtois: Real team acts as a whole in defense

Sports11:15, 17-09-2025

Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois shared his thoughts on the team's current play under head coach Xabi Alonso. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.

According to him, the team must act as a whole in defense. If the entire team does not fall back to defend, problems may arise.

The coach strictly monitors all players, including wing-backs, Kylian Mbappe, Gvler, and midfielders, to quickly strive to restore the play. Therefore, immediately returning to defense after losing the ball is required from every player.

In the recent Champions League match on Tuesday, despite Real being reduced to ten players on the field, they secured a 2-1 victory against Marseille. Kylian Mbappe's two penalty goals played a crucial role in this win.

This season, under Xabi Alonso's leadership, Real has won all official matches. This demonstrates the team's successful progress under the new coach.

In his interview, Thibaut Courtois emphasized the team's defensive discipline and the coach's strict demands.
