The first matches of the group stage's initial round have concluded. Euro-football.ru reported on this.
Only Thursday matches took place in the Champions League. The remaining tournament matches, except for the final on Saturday, are mostly held on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, unless exceptional circumstances arise.
On September 18, recognized teams “Barcelona” and “Manchester City” played their matches. “Kairat” made its debut in the Champions League group stage.
The “Euro-Football” publication provided a brief summary of the matches held on Thursday. Haaland set a new record by scoring 50 goals in 49 Champions League appearances.
It is natural that De Bruyne was disappointed to be substituted in the “Manchester City” vs. “Napoli” match. Di Lorenzo received a red card, leaving his team short-handed.
“Manchester City” players attacked Milinković-Savić’s goal for a long time, resulting in goals by Haaland and Doku. Rashford, the second English player in Barcelona’s history, scored two goals.
He showed his strength in the match against “Newcastle.” This is not Rashford’s first goal for “Barcelona”; he is the second English player after Lineker.
“Kairat” could not replicate “Karabakh’s” success and suffered a heavy defeat against “Sporting” in Lisbon. The 18-year-old goalkeeper Kalmurza saved a penalty kick but the team could not avoid defeat.
In the next round, “Kairat” will play against Madrid’s “Real.” After a long flight, the team will travel to Kazakhstan to face a strong opponent.
“Monaco” failed to earn points in Bruges without Golovin and lost by a large margin. Aklyush missed a penalty opportunity, with goalkeeper Mignolet saving the shot.
“Monaco” debutant Ansu Fati scored only a goal that slightly eased the score. “Eintracht” was the best team in the first round of the group stage.
Despite conceding an early goal, the Frankfurt team defeated “Galatasaray” 5:1 and took first place in the tournament standings. “PSG” beat “Atalanta” 4:0, but due to goal difference, “Eintracht” remains in first place.
“Bayer” escaped defeat away against “Copenhagen” thanks to a late own goal. The team’s head coach recalled comebacks made during Xabi Alonso’s tenure and achieved such success for the first time with current coach Kasper Hjulmand.
